About the language

German is one of the most important languages in culture, communications and intellectual life. Around 100 million Europeans speak German - not only in Germany, but also in Austria, in large areas of Switzerland, in Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and parts of northern Italy, eastern Belgium and Eastern France. After Russian it is the most widespread native language in Europe and is amongst the ten most-spoken languages in the world. Whether you would like to learn German in Germany or abroad,
'Deutsche Kultur International' will help you to find the course best suited to you and has collected extensive information on this subject. These pages also contain information about language tests required in order to study in Germany, where you can take these tests, and much more besides.

Welcome to Lina & Leo

Introduction

"Lina und Leo" is a German course for self-learners on the beginner's level. The learner takes a trip through Germany with an architecture student, Lina, and Leo, the parrot. In the course of 15 lessons, the trip stops at 15 cities. Each lesson starts with an introductory story and a scene at one of the city's well-known sites. Numerous exercises provide the opportunity for interactive learning and discovering Germany. The course is approximately equivalent to the Goethe-Institut's "Grundstufe 1" program.
